Title
Dataset for comparison of FlowCam and microscopy
Period
2022-05-31 till 2022-06-10
Period length
10 days
Sampling interval
Irregular Interval
Description

To compare automated FlowCam-derived measurements of individual phytoplankton cells and colonies with classical measurements from microscopy, we sampled water including phytoplankton communities from nine kettle holes located in an agricultural landscape in northeast Brandenburg, Germany.

The dataset 'Dataset for comparison of FlowCam and microscopy' containes raw data, metadata, and code to reproduce the results and figures from Münnich et al., (2026) 'Comparison of particle properties and biovolume estimates from FlowCam and microscopy for kettle hole phytoplankton communities'. For details see 'Dataset for comparison of FlowCam and microscopy_README.txt.

Parsing data File

Estimated Time:

Why does it take so much time?

While parsing a file, the database has to perform various tasks, some of them needs a lot of CPU and memory for larger files.

  • preprocessing: means automatic detection of headlines, table body, format values or csv-separators
  • copying: means read the file cell by cell and copy all elements to the database. During this format settings can be calculated (for example iso-time)
  • analyzing: check out for different data types (can be time, numeric or text)
